Why choose commercial window?
Determining the most suitable window type for your project can be a daunting task, but understanding the various ratings can provide valuable guidance. These ratings include R (residential), LC (light commercial), CW, and AW. Commercial windows often face greater demands, primarily due to their larger dimensions. Consequently, they are constructed with sturdier frames and reinforced glazing to bear heavier loads.
On the contrary, residential windows have limited structural load capacities due to their smaller size, making them less susceptible to high-pressure winds. However, it is important to note that using inappropriate windows on a commercial property can result in various structural problems.
What is a LC Rating Window?
AAMA(American Architectural Manufacturing Association) and IGMA(Insulating Glass Manufacturing Alliance) have joined forces to create an even stronger organization called FGIA or Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance, designed to focus on bettering the glass and framing industry.
Commonly used in low-rise and mid-rise multi-family dwellings and other buildings where larger sizes and higher loading requirements are expected. LC windows are air and water tested, but no test is conducted to measure the life of the window or to measure torsion. LC windows there is no requirement for maximum allowable deflection of unsupported spans.
